Course Description

Build awareness and understanding of mental health in the workplace

This nationally recognised Level 2 qualification develops a broader understanding of mental health and wellbeing in workplace settings.

Designed for employees, managers, team leaders, HR professionals, and workplace wellbeing champions, the course helps learners recognise common mental health conditions, understand the importance of positive mental wellbeing, and support colleagues through effective listening and appropriate signposting to professional support.

No previous mental health qualifications are required. Participants must be 16 years or older.

  • Roles and responsibilities relating to workplace mental health
  • Relevant workplace legislation and employer responsibilities
  • Common mental health conditions including:
    • stress
    • anxiety
    • depression
    • eating disorders
    • self-harm
    • suicide awareness
  • Recognising possible signs of poor mental health
  • Active listening skills
  • Appropriate reassurance and support techniques
  • Signposting individuals to professional support services
  • Understanding and applying the Mental Health First Aid at Work Action Plan

This course uses practical examples and discussion-based learning to help learners apply knowledge within real workplace environments.

On successful completion, learners receive the nationally recognised Qualsafe Level 2 Award in Understanding Mental Health in the Workplace (RQF), valid for three years.
