Course Description
Who should attend?
This 1-day course is for anyone involved in sporting activities – this could be referees, coaches or players. Equip yourself with the skills to handle sports-related injuries, boost your confidence in providing first aid during emergencies. Delegates must be 16 or older to attend this course.
What will you learn?
This course covers how to deal with injuries and medical emergencies that can happen during sporting activities. Key topics include:
- Bone, muscle & joint injuries
- Chest pain
- Head injuries
- Heat and cold
- Minor bleeding & injuries
- Resuscitation (adult & child protocols)
- Role of the sports first aider
- Severe bleeding
- Shock
- Spinal injuries
- Unresponsive adult
Course Duration
One day.
Assessment and Certification
Participants will be continuously assessed by the trainer. Successful candidates will receive a St John Ambulance certificate, valid for three years. To re-qualify you would need to attend the course again.
