Course Description
Who should attend?
Whether you are a daily commuter, a professional driver, or a weekend motorcyclist, being the first on the scene of a road traffic collision (RTC) is a high-pressure situation. This course provides the specialised skills needed to manage a roadside emergency until professional help arrives and is suitable for anyone who wants the confidence to help at a roadside incident. Participants must be 16 years or older.
What you will learn?
This course is designed specifically for the road environment. Unlike a standard office-based first aid course, we focus on dynamic scene safety, managing multiple casualties, and treating life-threatening trauma commonly seen in vehicle and motorcycle accidents. Key topics include:
- Scene safety
- Head injuries
- Injuries to bones and joints
- Primary Survey (the ABCDE assessment)
- Removal of helmets
- Resuscitation (adults, children, infants)
- Severe Bleeding & Shock
- Spinal injuries
- Unresponsive casualties (adult, children, infants)
Course Duration
Four hours.
Assessment and Certification
Participants will be continuously assessed by the trainer. Successful candidates will receive a St John Ambulance certificate, valid for three years.
