Course Description
Develop the skills and confidence to become a Mental Health First Aider
This nationally recognised Level 3 qualification provides learners with the knowledge and practical skills needed to act as a designated Mental Health First Aider within the workplace.
Designed for managers, supervisors, HR professionals, wellbeing champions, and employees with responsibility for supporting colleagues, the course develops confidence in recognising signs of mental ill-health, providing initial support, and signposting individuals towards appropriate professional help.

Participants must be 18 years or older and willing to take part in discussion-based learning and practical scenarios.
What will you learn?
This course develops the knowledge and practical skills needed to provide Mental Health First Aid within workplace settings. Key topics include:
- Understanding mental health and its importance
- The role and responsibilities of a Mental Health First Aider
- Maintaining professional boundaries and confidentiality
- Promoting positive mental wellbeing in the workplace
- Workplace legislation and employer responsibilities
- Common mental health conditions, including:
- stress
- anxiety
- depression
- eating disorders
- self-harm
- psychosis
- Recognising possible signs of mental ill-health
- Active listening and communication skills
- Providing reassurance and initial support
- Recognising and responding to crisis situations, including suicide awareness
- Signposting individuals to appropriate professional support
- Protecting your own wellbeing while supporting others
Training includes practical exercises and scenario-based learning to develop confidence in applying Mental Health First Aid principles in workplace settings.

Certification
Learners complete a theory-based multiple-choice assessment alongside practical activities and scenario-based learning throughout the course.
On successful completion, learners receive the nationally recognised Qualsafe Level 3 Award in Mental Health First Aid in the Workplace (RQF), valid for 3 years.
