New Volunteer Training Programme
This month we have launched our new volunteer training programme with the aim of having 24 members completing their training in Community First Aid by the end of February ready for the busy 2025 event season.

Are you someone who cares deeply about your community? Do you agree that by sharing first aid skills and advice we can create a safer and more resilient community? If so, then becoming a Community First Aider might be the role for you! Volunteering is a great way to enhance your CV, meet new people, and learn incredible, lifesaving skills. Whatever you enjoy doing, wherever you are on Island, and however much time you can give, we have a volunteer role to suit you.

Emergency Paediatric First Aid

This 1-day course is perfect for anyone working with or caring for young children and infants. Focused exclusively on first aid protocols for children and infant casualties, it equips you with the knowledge and skills to handle emergencies confidently and effectively. Join us to ensure the safety and well-being of the little ones in your care!

Course highlights:
➤ Anaphylaxis including administration of an autoinjector
➤ Child and infant resuscitation (CPR)
➤ Choking (child & infant)
➤ Communication and casualty care

What you should consider when purchasing a defibrillator?
• Who will likely need the defibrillator – in some cases children will need separate paediatric defibrillation pads
• Storing your defibrillator – fixed-location defibrillators should be stored in a cabinet or wall bracket, with appropriate signage
• Training – while you do not need to be trained to use a defibrillator, taking training can ensure you are familiar with the device and ready to act quickly in an emergency. Vitally, rescuers will still need to perform CPR, so it is important to know how to do this
• Educating your community – ensure your colleagues or community members are aware of the defibrillator, its location, how to access it, and how to use it.
