Job Title: Head of Commercial Training
Reporting to: Commandery Executive Officer
Salary : £34619 – £43455 (Negotiable subject to experience)
Location: St John HQ or as required


This role leads the development of educational practice and quality assurance of regulated and commercial Education and Training courses, ensuring that St John Ambulance Isle of Man meet the required, regulatory standards as set by the awarding body, internal standards, and external standard setters.

The post holder will lead and inspire the commercial training team, set clear expectations, work collaboratively with other stakeholders to drive forward the vision for St John Ambulance Isle of Man and will be required to have a clear enhanced DRB check, must already hold an approved Trainer and Assessor qualification and maintain the same throughout their employment

Key Responsibilities
 Act as Lead for all aspects of St John Ambulance Commercial Training and be the interface between the customer, St John Ambulance Trainers and the students;
 Oversee the planning of the training calendar on a yearly basis, allocating subjects according to demand, reserving training rooms and allocating Trainers with the appropriate qualification to take the course;
 Be responsible for managing the team of St John trainers, ensuring that all Trainers are competent and current to deliver the courses. You will ensure that trainers comply with the requirements for Continuous Personal Development;
 Retain currency by delivering courses as and when required;
 Maintain a market awareness of courses available from other providers ensuring that St John Ambulance remains competitive with respect to both courses provided and costs;
 Identify opportunities for developing new training courses and designing bespoke courses for customers within the St John Ambulance training modules;
 Be responsible for the Commercial Training budget and organising the timely ordering of training materials;
 Take the lead role in preparing for internal and external audits of quality assurance
 At all times exemplify, promote, and celebrate the values of St John Ambulance and compassionate
leadership, along with demonstrating a dedication to the organisation’s mission, vision, and objectives
 Perform any other duties commensurate with these responsibilities, the band of the post and skills and qualifications of the post-holder
