Celebrating Our Youth: St John Ambulance Isle of Man Chosen as a Co-op Local Cause

St John Ambulance Isle of Man is proud to announce that we have been selected as one of the local causes for the next round of the Co-op Local Community Fund. This exciting opportunity will provide vital funding, enabling us to celebrate the incredible hard work and dedication of our Badgers and Cadets over the coming year.

We extend our sincere thanks to The Co-operative Group for recognising the essential service our dedicated volunteers—especially our young members—deliver across the island, from providing first aid cover at major events to running our youth training programmes.

How the Fund Works

The Co-op Local Community Fund is powered directly by its members. For the next 12 months, Co-op members can select St John Ambulance Isle of Man as their preferred cause. Every time a member purchases Co-op branded products and scans their membership card, 1% of the money spent goes directly to us.

This mechanism ensures that everyday shopping habits contribute meaningfully to community safety and support our volunteers’ work.

Funding a Day of Appreciation for Our Youth

The money raised through this partnership will be dedicated to organising a special end-of-year field training day and celebration dinner for our Badgers (5-10 years) and Cadets (11-18 years).

This activity will be our chance to show them just how much we appreciate everything they do as part of St John Ambulance Isle of Man. Our Badgers and Cadets not only use the lifesaving skills they learn within our youth programmes, but they also pass their knowledge onto others through helping their peers and representing the organisation at a variety of events across the island.

The day will include fun competitions and team-building exercises, allowing them to relax and enjoy themselves outside of their formal duties, followed by a celebratory dinner in their honour.
