Zurich Lighthouses Challenge

The Isle of Man Lighthouses Challenge is a friendly cycling sportive that takes in the Island’s most spectacular coastal scenery – all in aid of Charity.

The Event

The popular and large cycling event attracts more than 700 competitors from the Isle of Man and further afield, and includes options to suit all abilities, ranging from leisure cyclists and eBikers, all the way up to seasoned professional racers!

Covering over 100 miles in distance and over 2000 metres (6800 feet) in climbing, the Full Circle Route takes in some of the Island’s most beautiful scenery.

Services Provided

For the 2021 event, we were asked to provide Event First Aid Services which included an ambulance for the full day (utilising two separate ambulance crews), in addition to two First Aiders at the Event headquarters, for aftercare.

Zurich Lighthouses Challenge event organisers commented:

“The event couldn’t take place without the valuable support provided by the dedicated and multi-skilled volunteers from St John Ambulance Isle of Man. On hand to help with any cuts, scrapes or more serious injuries whilst out on the road, we truly value their event first aid support.”

Martin Benson Chief Officer of St John Ambulance Isle of Man added:

“We were delighted to be able to support this popular and high-profile event which attracts competitors from all over the Island and UK. Not least it raises much needed money for very worthy local charities.

If you require Event First Aid cover but are unsure about how to go about it or how much cover you’ll need, send an enquiry to public-duties@sja.org.im where our team will be happy to help.
